Livingston captain Liam Fox reveals reasons for players hospital donation

LIAM FOX has revealed how impending fatherhood and the care a family friend received prompted the Livi squad to dig deep into their pockets for the youngsters in the Children’s Ward at St John’s Hospital this Christmas.

The Livingston captain, the coaching staff and every other squad member were more than happy to chip in together to donate cash which was then used to buy presents which they brought to the youngsters in the Children’s Ward this week.

And Fox insists it is the least the players can do if it brings a little joy to the youngsters’ day.

He said: “We know this is a tough time of year for a lot of people especially for kids who are in hospital so this is the least we can do and if we could do more we would.

“All the players chipped in a wee bit of money together which was then used to buy various different presents which we handed out today.

“There was some left over at the end but we’re leaving them here for any other kids who come in over the next few days.

“I have a baby due myself in June and that played a part too in wanting to do as much as we could.

“Also, a friend of mine’s baby was here for two or three weeks recently and she said the care from the nurses and the doctors here at St John’s was incredible.

“We know how hard they all work and we wanted to give a little bit back.

“It is not a lot but if our visits brings a bit of cheer to the kids who are here for even just ten minutes then we’re delighted to do it.”
