Livingston's Bollan praised Dr Goals impact

GARY BOLLAN has revealed he jokingly asked new frontman Kenny Deuchar to give him a hat-trick after hearing ‘The Doctor’ had an impressive record against East Fife.

So he was left surprised and delighted when the 30-year-old, who has penned an 18-month contract with the Lions after leaving Falkirk, delivered a stunning treble to fire his side back to the top of the table.

“Someone told me Kenny had scored two hat-tricks against East Fife before so, when we met with him on Monday night, I asked him before the game to get another one – which he has done,” revealed Bollan.

“It was a great debut and it shows you what Kenny is all about.

“His game is goals and, all through his career, he has scored plenty and that’s why we have brought him in.”

Deuchar’s treble helped Livi take all three points from a match in which they trailed twice and Bollan was thrilled with his side’s refusal to accept defeat.

He continued: “The boys showed a lot of character to get back in the game, especially after the penalty for East Fife.

“From where I was, it looked like it Kenny and their boy just collided with each other but, as a result, we were behind again.

“Then having equalised for the second time, we went down to 10 men but managed to score two goals to win the game.

“I think shows how much character we have in the team and I can’t praise the boys highly enough.”

Next up for Livingston is a home match Forfar which will be their first league outing at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium since November 6.

Bollan added: “It was good to return to winning ways and now we are looking forward to a home match against this Saturday.

“It has been a while since we have played at home, so we’re relishing it.”
