Livingston star MacDonald ready to return to action after spell on sidelines
CAMMY MacDONALD is ready to come in from the cold to boost Livingston’s title bid after being out injured because of a lump of snow.
The Livingston centre-half has endured a spell on the sidelines after damaging his hamstring has he tried to avoid a mound of snow left at the side of the Recreation Park pitch during his side’s 2-2 draw with Alloa on Boxing Day.
But the 21-year-old stopper has worked his way back to full fitness and is primed for a top-team return this Saturday when East Fife visit the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium.
MacDonald (right) said: “I’ve had a bit of a nightmare with my injury, which happened in such a strange way but, hopefully, it is healed now.
“It was disappointing for the club that the game against Forfar was called off on Saturday but, from a personal point of view, it allowed me an extra week to get fully fit.
“The injury happened after I was on the bench against Alloa and then came on as a sub without having properly warmed up.
“Add to that the fact it was bitterly cold, the ground was rock solid and within the first few minutes of coming on, I was covering at right-back when I was sprinting at full pace and headed the ball out.
“There was mounds of snow heaped at the side of the park and I had to stop quickly and I tweaked my hamstring.”
The match against East Fife will be Livi’s first home game since November 6 because of the cold weather and comes shortly after the Lions stormed to a 4-2 win at Bayview.
MacDonald believes the Fifers, bossed by ex-Lions manager John Robertson, will be fired up. He said: “They’ll be eager to get revenge, especially as they have a few former Livi boys in their squad.
“They’ll enjoy coming back here but we’re only concentrating on getting the win.
“It’s been tough with all the postponements and we’ll all have to dig in now with games every Saturday and Tuesday.
“But we did that last season and the boys here are raring to go.”
