Livingston cruise to Bayview win

KENNY DEUCHAR kept up his remarkable scoring record against East Fife on Saturday to continue Livingston’s relentless march towards the First Division.

The good Doctor scored twice, before Kyle Jacobs late tap-in sealed the win, to make it five goals in three games against the Fifers.

The frontman stooped to help in strike partner Iain Russell’s initial header which looked netbound.

Russell had a chance to double Livi’s advantage just after the half hour but he blazed over the bar.

East Fife pushed forward in the second half and drew level on 60 minutes when Ryan Wallace finished a move off at the back post.

Deuchar grabbed his second on 69 minutes when he lashed a volley into the bottom corner before Jacobs secured the points at the death with a close-range finish after Russell’s shot had been blocked by keeper Michael Brown.

Livi manager Gary Bollan said: “I don’t think we started the game all that great and East Fife matched us.

“We had the goal, but we said at half-time we could be doing better than we had been and then they equalised.

“We dug in, though, and scored two more good goals. Although there wasn’t a lot in the game I think we could have had more.

“It was a good three points and we’ve just got to keep going and take it one game at a time.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming up but fair play to East Fife, they made it difficult.”

Bayview boss John Robertson said: “We lost some soft goals which is disappointing.

“I’m disappointed for the players because they put a lot into the game.

“What’s annoying for them is that it’s the same basic errors from the same players week-in, week out.”
