Livi defender wants revenge attempt
PAUL Watson wants revenge over the only side to beat Livi in the league this season.
The Lions defender remembers the Morton misery his side suffered in their 2-1 defeat in the Irn Bru First Division clash at Greenock earlier in the league campaign.
Iain Russell cancelled out a Michael Tidser opener before Peter MacDonald scored from the penalty spot to hand Morton the win.
And as Watson looks back on the Lions’ sole league defeat in the opening part of the season, he has his eyes on taking three points against them this Saturday.
He said: “We played Morton a few months ago and we didn't come out the traps at the start well at all.
“But in the second half we came out flying and dominated the match.
“Nothing went our way that afternoon and we couldn't score.
“Unfortunately we had a penalty given against us after we got the equaliser but it was one of those days.
“Hopefully we can get a wee bit of revenge on them this coming weekend and get the win.”
Livi have notched up six draws in their nine league matches this season.
And Watson knows that turning some of those draws into wins could have lifted his side to top of the division.
He told the Courier: “We are drawing a lot of our league games recently.
“We are dominating games but struggling to finish teams off.
“And that's being reflected in where we are in the league table.
“Nine games and six draws shows what has been happening.”
He added: “On the positive side, we are not getting beat which is a good thing.
“The squad know that we are drawing too often though and if a few of those draws were wins we'd be top of the league right now.
“But it’s only a matter of time before we turn those draws into wins.
“It really is ridiculous how tight the first division is – everyone beats everyone.
“There are no favourites to win this league, that is for sure.
“Three points can make the difference between top and bottom.
“It's crazy but at least it’s exciting for the fans.”
