Livi midfielder keen for revenge over Accies

KEAGHAN JACOBS admits he’s desperate for Livi to exact some revenge against their Ramsdens Cup conquerors Hamilton.

The Lions midfielder still holds a grudge after last month’s semi-final exit at the hands of Accies and only three points against the Lanarkshire side will ease his hurt when they meet at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium on Saturday.

He told Courier Sport: “It would be great to get one over them after they knocked us out of the cup.

“It was massively disappointing that they beat us. Now they get to play in the final and have a chance of winning the cup.

“We had a few opportunities on the day and we need to make sure we take them this time round.

“But this is a different day and a different game.

“So we need to focus on that – and focus on winning the three points.”

A single goal separated the teams when they met at New Douglas Park for the Ramsdens Cup clash, which earned Accies a date with Falkirk, ironically, at Livingston’s Braidwood Motor Company Stadium on Sunday, April 1, 2012.

But despite the Lanarkshire side getting the better of Livi last time around, Jacobs reckons Livi have what it takes to come out on top when the teams meet again at the weekend.

He said: “We go into every game confident and this will be the same.

“We’ve got some great players and a lot of character, which means we can win a lot of games.

“We have a good home record that we want to protect. We need to keep our run going.

“They’re a good team and have a lot of experience from being in the top flight, but I don’t think that's something we need to worry about.

“We just need to play to our strengths, get the ball on the ground and play passing football.

“If we are on top form and play well, we can beat anyone in the First Division – and that includes Hamilton.”

Jacobs has battled his way back to fitness after a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

Since returning from the treatment room, he has struck up a midfield partnership with Livi’s short-term signing Mark Fotheringham.

And the 22-year-old reckons he is gaining valuable experience from the ex-Celtic man.

Jacobs (pictured below) said: “It is very hard watching your team from the sidelines when you can’t do anything about the game, but hopefully now that I’m back I can stay injury-free and just keep playing.

“I was out a lot longer than I was hoping for, but you can’t really rush back.

“Having Fotheringham playing beside me is something I'm enjoying.

“He’s talking to me all the time and I'm benefiting from what he brings to the team.

“It has helped me in the last couple of games and obviously the experience he has will help me develop as a player.”

Livi will be without captain Liam Fox and David Sinclair for the visit of Accies, while Stefan Scougall remains very doubtful.
