Bridgend offer season’s promise

BRIDGEND United’s pre-season preparations continued last Wednesday when they made the short journey up the county to face Pumpherston Juniors.

Bridgend thrilled the travelling supporters by playing some terrific football and showing great spirit, but went behind to a shock opener from Pumpherston after some sloppy defending.

United fought back from going behind early in the second half to claim a well-deserved equaliser.

Barrie Lewis got on the end of a cross to head the equaliser, much to the fans’ relief, with seven minutes remaining.

United then enjoyed a week-end off to allow for the Bridgend Gala Day but were back in training on Monday ahead of their fixture at Auldhill Park tonight against Livingston United.

Kick-off is at 7pm and all supporters are welcome.

The club are holding a race night, buffet and disco in Bridgend Village Hall on Saturday, August 30.

FAULDHOUSE Foxes Under-10s are looking for outfield players and a goalkeeper, born in 1999, to join their squad for the new season.

VICTORIA FC under 14s are looking for an experienced goalkeeper and striker, born in 1995, to join their squad.

LIVINGSTON Hearts Maroon 1998 are on the lookout for a couple of players for their soccer sevens under-11s team.

Interested players are invited along to one of the clubs training nights.

These take place on a Monday and Thursday evenings.

MICHAEL McInally has been placed on the transfer list by West Calder.
