Burnie hit the goals as they romp to victory

WHITBURN hit Premier League Oakley for six in an East of Scotland Cup romp.

Chris Dolan and Kenny Hannah weighed in with a double apiece while the rout was completed with goals from Andy Doig and new father Kevin Donnelly.

The Burnie, like fellow West Lothian side Bathgate, were depleted by injury and suspension and only had eleven players available.

Whitburn have also placed Ritchie Carson on the transfer list. Carson is a very versatile player capable of covering a number of positions.

For the second time in a week Linlithgow Rose crossed swords with Tayport and for the second time Rose were victorious 2-1.

It proved be a spiky confrontation between the two resulting in poor discipline with the visitors ending the tie with only eight players.

The incident which sparked the loss of discipline can be traced back to Linlithgow’s opening goal.

Early in the game Rose keeper Marc Graham was injured and stretchered from the pitch. Tayport sportingly gave the ball back to Rose and the game continued.

Later a similar situation arose in the Tayport half with Tayport expecting a similar sporting response after an injury to one of their players but Linlithgow played on and controversially took the lead with a Sean Grady effort. Stuart McArthur doubled the Rose lead with a header early in the second half before Tayport fought back and reduced the deficit.

But in the dying stages common sense seemed to go out the window as three Tayport players were ordered off after an almighty stramash.

In the East of Scotland Cup there were wins for West Calder who beat Steelend 2–1 and Harthill who travelled to Edinburgh and despite going behind pulled level to eventually win by the odd goal in three.

Broxburn were up against fellow South Division side Sauchie in a game switched to Broxburn. It was the home side who triumphed 3–1 as they hit top form.

Stoneyburn hosted Perthshire side Luncarty but lost on penalties after extra time.

Livingston faced a tough test of their character when they drew Premier League side Ballingry. Bobby Ramsay’s men were up against it from the start and were beaten 4-2.

Pumpherston were another side on their travels away to Kirriemuir but returned empty handed after losing 2–1. Armadale also lost out, this time at home, as they fell to a 2–0 against Premier League side Musselburgh.
