BRIDGEND United returned from a fortnight’s inactivity with a bang as they crushed Dynamo Whitburn 5-1 away.

The Bridgenders were four up before the break, thanks to a Nicky Miller brace and further strikes from man-of-the-match Steven Wardrop and James Sommerville.

Dynamo pulled one back from the penalty spot shortly after the re-start but Craig Nelson cancelled that out just minutes later to seal the points in an impressive victory.

Bridgend now top the Lothian West Division, boasting maximum points, and are surely the team to beat again this season.

United now look forward to hosting Fife outfit Methil Rovers on Saturday in the second round of the Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup.

Kickoff is 2pm at Auldhill Park and all supporters are welcome, both at the ground and at Bridgend Golf Club afterwards.
