JUNIOR football was in mourning this week after the sad passing of former Harthill Secretary Dick Adams.
Wee Dick Adams as he was affectionately known, died last Sunday, November 30, at home with his family and friends after a long period of illness.
For over 12 years Wee Dick was a huge influence at Harthill and over the years his whole family have helped keep the club to the fore in Junior football.
Dick was secretary while his wife Helen filled the roles of head cook and bottle washer. All the girls in the family joined in too, in ways too numerous to mention.
Of course the club isn’t all about one man, but Dick and his family played a huge part in the success that came the club’s way, not least in contributing towards the legendary hospitality afforded to visiting clubs.
Dick was instrumental in building the small social club the club now enjoys and the various functions the club now hosts are a result of the vision he believed in.
Wee Dick worked for many years at Alexander’s Coachworks in Camelon alongside half of the committees in Junior football.
It seems everyone at Alexander’s is associated with a junior club in one way or another.
Dick’s many work friends will be among the mourners attending his funeral which takes place at Brodie’s Funeral Parlour in Whitburn on Monday, December 8, at 10.15 am before moving on to Blaeberry Cemetery,Whitburn for 11.15 am.
His wife Helen, daughters Caroline, Kirsty, Allison and Kimberley were a tower of strength throughout his long illness and our thoughts are with them now in their time of need.
Wee Dick will be remembered for what he was. A true gentleman and a friend of everyone.
May he rest in peace.
