Armadale Thistle hit Livingston United for six

Livingston United 1 Armadale Thistle 6

IT was top versus bottom in the South Division where basement boys Livingston were hit for six by Armadale.

The Dale are sitting pretty at the top of the pile and are now strong favourites for promotion to the Premier League.

But this match against a fellow West Lothian side wasn’t as one-sided as the final result suggests.

Livi started fairly well and contained the Dale to just a single-goal lead by half-time following a Ryan Johnstone strike.

Stuart Malcolm doubled their advantage just after the break before Livingston pulled a goal back.

But Armadale finally clicked into gear midway through the second period and promptly to buried Livi under an avalanche of goals.

Lee Johnstone was the star man with a superb treble while Sean Brogan also found the net.

Armadale: Woods, Dick, Donaldson, McCulloch, Rodgers, R Johnstone, Alexander, Mauchline, Lee Johnstone, Lynch, Malcolm. Subs: Bonnar, Brogan, O Neil, McMechan, Waddle.

Elsewhere in the South Division Stoneyburn lost at Edinburgh 2–1 with Steven Tarditti getting their goal from the penalty spot.

Broxburn travelled to promotion hopefuls Sauchie and inflicted a heavy 5–3 defeat on them.

Goals from Chic Pearson, John Wilson, Mark Wells, Craig, Chilton and Stewart Ritchie gave Broxburn a very valuable three points on the South Division road.

Blackburn and Harthill drew 2–2 with Ross Williamson and Fraser Gillespie on the score sheet for Blackburn and Alan Logan and James Fleming grabbing the goals for Harthill.

Pumpherston lost 3–1 at home to Tranent and West Calder’s good run came to an end with a 2–1 defeat at home to Dalkeith.
