Skies darken for Bathgate Thistle

Bathgate 1 Bonnyrigg 2

BATHGATE’S Super League future is hanging on an increasingly shoogily nail after another disappointing defeat left them anchored at the bottom of the pile.

The Jags are now five points behind Whitburn at the foot of the table and games are now running our for Paul Jack’s side.

It is a remarkable fall from grace for a side brimming with established Super League-quality players and who won the Junior Scottish Cup last summer.

On Saturday they welcomed title favourites Bonnyrigg Rose to Creamery Park. The Jags started well and took the lead.

Jim Lister fired Thistle ahead but it proved to be a false dawn as Rose hit back.

Andy Howatt levelled for the visitors before Davy Burrell scored to take them to the top of the pile and leave Bathgate deeper in relegation trouble.

Bathgate: Longmuir, Wilson, G Love, Menmuir, Gupwell, F Love, Harvey, McColligan, Lister, McLaren, Hunter. Subs: McPhee, McGrillen, Nicolson, Carlin.
