LINLITHGOW Rose were five alive as they cantered to victory over an Edinburgh side who capitulated in the capital.
With their Super League title challenge now well and truly over Rose’s quest for silverware turns to the cups and on this form they must be among the favourites for this tournament.
Gordon Herd gave the West Lothian side the lead on 32 minutes when he reacted quickest to prod home a loose ball after a Stuart McArthur free-kick had been spilled by the keeper.
Three minutes before the break Herd added a second when he expertly executed a penalty-kick.
Linlithgow were now clicking into top gear and on the hour mark they added a third with a glorious team move after McArthur sent Gary Livingstone clean through on goal with a clever dummy and he scored easily.
Edinburgh added to their woes by having Ewan McIntosh sent off following a double booking before Rose skipper Danny Smith celebrated a rare goal.
McArthur, who created the first and the third, got himself onto the scoresheet before the end when he curled in from long range via the inside of the post.
There was still time for one more chance for Rose and a chance for Herd to complete his hat-trick two minutes from the end when they won a penalty but he screwed his effort wide.
Linlithgow: Pinkowski, Robertson, McDermott, Donnelly, Gallacher, Smith, McEwan, Hogg, Herd, Livingstone, McArthur. Subs: James, Wilson, King, Tyrrell, Bruce.
