West Lothian Thistle reach new territory with cup win

WEST Lothian Thistle became the first-ever team from the county to have their name engraved onto the prestigious South East Region Youth FA Under-13s Regional Cup last week.

Thistle are the toast of West Lothian after putting in a tremendous performance to beat Edina Hibs BC 2-1 and take the silver.

The Jags had a dream start when they won a penalty in the first minute which James Drysdale netted with aplomb.

Ryan Conroy netted the second goal with a fine strike at the start of the second half to put one West Lothian hand on the trophy. But Edina reduced the deficit with 15 minutes to go to ensure a nervy ending but West Lothian Thistle defended heroically to repel the Hibs attacks and take the trophy.

The team, who are managed by Graham Moffat and coached by Graham and Alan Thomson, have only been playing 11-a-side football for one season and they are already showing great promise.

A post-match party was hosted by Linda and Scott Dick and the celebrations continued late into the Sunday night.
