WHITBURN had their hands full against a plucky and well-organised Armadale side in the Willie Johnstone Trophy.
However, the Dale went down 3–0 at home to a strong Whitburn eleven.
But the Burnie were given an early fright by the Dale, who could and perhaps should have taken the lead.
But in the end Whitburn’s experience proved itself and a Colin Strickland double and single strike for Andy Doig was enough for the Super League side to take the win.
There was another memorial trophy up for grabs in Fauldhouse where they hosted Arniston in the annual Jimmy Holburn Memorial clash.
Unfortunately the Hoose were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat.
Linlithgow Rose were on their travels as they crossed Hadrian’s Wall for a series of friendlies.
Rose played and defeated Spennymoor on Friday 5-2 with new signing Steve Manson grabbing a brace of goals.
Strike partner Gordon Herd also grabbed a double, with the fifth goal coming from Tommy Coyne.
A day later and Rose were back in action as they beat Chester Le Street.
This match proved to be a lot closer with the only goal coming late in the day courtesy of Mark Bradley.
Broxburn showed well against Super League side Bo’ness but ultimately lost 2-1.
On the scoresheet for Bo’ness were Gary Brown and Fraser Forrest while Chic Pearson scored the Broxburn goal.
Pumpherston had East Senior side Whitehill Welfare as their opponents and won 1–0 thanks to a goal from a young trialist.
This was an excellent result for Pumpherston.
Finally, Blackburn were at Lochgelly and beat the Fife side 4–2 with goals coming from Andy McQuillan, Gary Peebles, Alan Brown and Peter Keenan.
