FOOTBALL rivalries were revived on Tuesday night as the League Cup returned with another series of classics from around the county.
Bathgate made the short trip to Harthill and made even shorter work of their nearby rivals with a resounding 5-1 thumping.
Graeme McLaren bagged a hat-trick as they showed the rest of the pack the form they are capable of.
Stoneyburn were always going to be up against it when they travelled to Super League side Camelon and they duly lost 6–0 to complete a bad couple of games under new gaffer Robin Butler.
In Section Two the ugly inconsistency monster reared its familiar head for Whitburn as they lost 2-0 to Bo’ness just a few days after cruising to a 5-0 triumph.
Broxburn were at Dalkeith and inflicted the Midlothian’s side’s second thrashing in three days, winning comfortably 5-1.
Fauldhouse squared off against Edinburgh with the city side looking for another three points and top spot in the table which they secured after a 2-1 success.
Pumpherston, humbled 7-0 by Linlithgow a few days earlier, fell to another heavy defeat as Newtongrange fired seven past their hapless defence again but at least this time they netted a consolation goal in a 7-1 capitulation.
Finally, Armadale met the Junior game’s newest recruits in Spartans and were held to a 1–1 draw with their goal coming from Robbie Feeney who was sent off later in the game.
Last night, (Wednesday) Livingston were at home to Sauchie in Section One while in Section Three Linlithgow were scheduled to welcome West Calder to Prestonfield.
