JUNIOR football heavyweights Linlithgow Rose taught Spartans a lesson in the art of goalscoring this weekend as they hammered the Junior new boys 4-0 at Prestonfield.
Rose keeper Steven Pinkowski initially kept his side level with a flying save to claw away a Kenny Young piledriver in the opening exchanges.
But seven minutes before the break the hosts made the breakthrough when Tommy Coyne steered home a cross from strike partner Gordon Herd.
Herd grabbed the next goal himself shortly after the restart after racing clean through on goal before Coyne netted again just three minutes later.
Coyne then completed his hat-trick on the hour after volleying home from 15 yards.
Rose boss Dave Baikie was thrilled with his side’s display and he warned the rest there is more to come.
He said: “With so many players coming through the door the League Cup was always going to be a gelling process.
“I’m happy with the way things are going and we’ve been scoring goals which breeds confidence.”
Linlithgow Rose: Pinkowski, Hogg, Tyrrell, Donnelly, Ward, Wilson, McLennan, Smith, Herd, Coyne, Manson. Subs: Kelly, McArthur, Parkin, McDermott, Robertson, Livingstone.
