Craigshill Thistle girls are in the pink

CRAIGSHILL Thistle Pinks have enjoyed a year to remember on the football field.

The only girls’ football team in the under-11s section of the West Lothian league have just finished their debut campaign where they have laid the foundation stones for a fantastic footballing future.

Pinks were only formed in February this year with many of the girls newcomers to the game.

But they trained hard and their preparations bore fruit on match days as they impressed against their more experienced opponents.

In addition to playing in the league on a Saturday the side also contested an under-11s girls tournament in Edinburgh where they fine-tuned their shooting skills every month.

Last month, Pinks were invited to take part in a tournament arranged as part of Polbeth United's 40th Anniversary and the girls crowned an excellent weekend with a trophy.

The girls would like to express their thanks to David Boland and everyone at Polbeth for putting together such a good day.

The girls would also like to thank ASK Ceramics, Williamson Garden Centre, Beechwood Nurseries, Livingston, who have generously sponsored the girls this season which allowed the girls to buy their aptly coloured pink strips and pink balls.

Lastly, the coaches, Laura Grant, Carol Mulholland and Ricky Moore would like to thank all the girls who play for Craigshill Thistle Pinks.

Every week, the talented and ever-improving squad show incredible determination, desire and ambition.
