Oakbank youngsters take a Tynecastle bow

OAKBANK of Calderwood’s under-13s football starlets followed in the studmarks of the likes of Andrew Driver, John Robertson and Craig Gordon when they took to the field at Tynecastle recently.

The aspiring footballers from the East Calder club were picked to provide the half-time entertainment at the recent Hearts vs Kilmarnock SPL clash and played on the field where some of Scotland’s top stars honed their skills. Club Secretary Dougie Hunter said: “It was a fantastic evening for the players and everyone associated with the club as the Oakbank oranges went head-to-head with the Oakbank blues and treated the 14,000 supporters inside the stadium to a goal feast.

“The standing ovation the Oakbank players received from both the Hearts and Kilmarnock fans when doing their lap of honour was absolutely amazing and the club gained many new friends on the night following a magnificent half-time squad performance.”

The club officials would like to thank Paul Greig from Hearts FC and Joe Jones from Coerver Coaching for giving the Oakbank players this wonderful opportunity to apply their skills in front of a packed Premier League football stadium.
