LINLITHGOW Rose scraped through to round two but they were stretched at Montrose before eventually coming home away a narrow 2-1 win.
It took a late goal from sub Stuart McArthur to haul Rose back into the match before an injury-time strike from Mark Tyrrell clinched the tie in dramatic fashion.
Bathgate Thistle were also in action as they squared off against the East Region’s newest recruits, Spartans, in Edinburgh.
The Jags enjoyed a similar narrow victory to their county neighbours and Super League rivals, Linlithgow, by edging their tie 2–1.
Hero of the day for Bathgate was once again Jim Lister who bagged another double to add to his impressive goal tally for the campaign.
Perhaps the best result of the day was Premier League side Fauldhouse’s demolition of Fife side Lochore Welfare.
The Hoose scored four times without reply on a glorious day for them with Bryan Felvus scoring a double.
Also on target were Andy Copper and Jamie McKenzie.
Fellow Premier League side Armadale were at Bankfoot but failed to reach the draw for the Second Round as they went down 4–2.
There was a mixed bag for the South Division sides in the area.
West Calder lost 3–2 at home to Sauchie with Steven Johnstone and Brett Agnew scoring for West Calder.
But Stoneyburn had a super win as they beat Luncarty 4–0 with a terrific display of finishing.
Broxburn were at Forfar Albion and won 2–1 thanks to a brace of goals from the penalty spot for Chic Pearson in three fantastic first half minutes.
Pumpherston travelled to Premier League side Penicuik but made no impression as they went down heavily 6–1.
Finally, Blackburn found Scone a tough place to get a result as they lost 4–2 with Peter Keenan getting a double for Blackburn.
Livingston had their game against Tayport postponed due to the death of Club Secretary John Paterson who was buried on Saturday morning.
