Derby clash comes at perfect time for Bo’ness

TOP of the menu in the juniors this weekend is a spicy local derby between Linlithgow Rose and Bo’ness United at Prestonfield.

Bo’ness are currently riding high at the summit of the Super League table but a win for Rose would take them to within a point of their neighbours and fiercest rivals.

There is everything to play for and a tasty encounter is expected.

Bo’ness go into the match in good form having thumped Bathgate Thistle 3-0 last weekend while they also boast one of the league’s last undefeated records, having won three and drawn once in their four league matches so far.

But it isn’t such a Rosy picture for the county club who lost to Newtongrange Star at the weekend and have also drawn twice in the league so far.

Rose will be desperate to pick up their second Super League win of the campaign at the expense of their rivals.

Whitburn welcome Musselburgh to Central Park on Saturday and having slammed home six goals in the Scottish Cup last week will have no fears.

The addition of Stevie Weir to a Burnie strikeforce already containing goal-grabber Colin Strickland has given them one of junior footballs top strikeforce’s.

Weir broke his Whitburn duck in Greenock and will be looking to add to his tally against Musselburgh, who are sitting pretty in second spot, just below Bo’ness.

Bathgate Thistle are heading north to Dundee to face Lochee United after losing to Bo’ness at Newtown Park at the weekend.

In the Premier League Armadale are in action and keen to build on a good run which has come as a welcome relief after a difficult start.

The Dale are in North Fife to face Tayport and Fauldhouse have a home game against Kinnoull.

Stoneyburn face the tough trip to meet Dalkeith in the South Division who after a poor run recently have been busy hitting the net.

There is another big local derby when Pumpherston meet Broxburn at Recreation Park while elsewhere Harthill visit Blackburn still on a high after their Scottish Cup win last week.

Livingston face West Calder in the last local game of the weekend.
