All the thrills and spills from the West Lothian junior football action

BROXBURN went goal crazy this week, slamming six past a dazed Dalkeith at Albyn Park in a 6-1 win.

Chris Geddes helped himself to a stunning hat-trick, while John Jeffrey bagged a double.

Craig netted the final goal for Broxburn.

Fauldhouse were also in action and amongst the goals as they fired four past Edinburgh United in the capital.

Kenny Martin’s early penalty set the county club on their way and Jamie Halford edged them further ahead on 21 minutes.

An emphatic first-half was capped with a third goal just before the break when Mark Wilkins rifled home Davie Connolly’s cross.

Just after the hour mark Edinburgh pulled a goal back but it made little difference to the rampant Fauldhouse side who scored again before the end.

This time the goalscorer was Jason Deans.

Armadale went down 3-2 against Spartans but only the width of the crossbar denied them a draw after they rattled the woodwork in the final minutes.

The Dale did well to come back from a 2-0 deficit after just 20 minutes thanks to a Nick Reid double for Spartans.

Lee Johnstone halved the deficit ten minutes before the break and then three minutes after the restart their comeback was complete when Craig Meechan pounced.

Kenny Young restored Spartans’ lead 20 minutes from time while Craig Chilton missed a spot-kick and a golden opportunity to level for Armadale.

And when they hit the crossbar three minutes from the end the Dale knew it wasn’t their day.

Superleague side Bathgate Thistle won once and drew in their two League Cup outings this week.

Firstly they shared a goal apiece with Sauchie at Creamery Park on Saturday.

But after the match boss Graeme Love was left disappointed his side hadn’t taken maximum points against a side who played for much of the game with ten men.

Sauchie played the whole second-half with ten men after goalkeeper Hardie earned the first squeeze of the shower gel after felling Chris Jeffreys.

But the ten-men took a dramatic lead 18 minutes from the end when Morgan forced the ball home.

The Jags poured forward in search of a leveller and sub Alex Lurinsky was the hero of the day when he smashed home a last minute equaliser.

On Monday night, Bathgate beat county rivals Blackburn United 3-1.

Stpehen Payne hooked in an overhead kick for the opening goal early on and Graeme McLaren added a second with a low shot across goal.

New boy Lee Johnstone, signed just prior to the match from Armadale, put the tie beyond doubt with a well-taken header before the end.

There was still time for Blackburn to tee up an exciting finish as McLaughlin reacted first to a loose ball to bundle over the line after team-mate Ross Carter’s effort came back off the post.

The defeat came just two days after Blackburn had eased past Stoneyburn at Murrayfield Park 2-1.

They actually fell behind early on to a Michael McCormack effort before two expertly executed set-pieces turned the game around.

Danny Campbell levelled things up with a long-range free kick before Davie Sneddon won it from the penalty spot.

There was another all-West Lothian clash at Prestonfield, where Linlithgow Rose welcomed Pumpherston.

This proved to be a very one-sided affair with the Superleague heavyweights cruising to a 4-0 win.

Rose’s goals came courtesy of Stuart McArthur (2), Roddy McLennan and Chris King.

Stoneyburn slammed seven past a struggling Harthill side, who also went down 6-2 to Camelon on a weekend to forget.

On target for Stoneyburn in their 7-0 romp were Michael McCormack (3), Daniel Matonti, Tony Gilhooley, Craig Gillhooley and Gary Bonnes.

Camelon’s hammering of Harthill was the first of two West Lothian scalps they took in a few days after they edged out Livingston 2-1.

And finally West Calder lost 2-1 away to Newtongrange Star.
