Fife and Lothians Cup Third Round:
Linlithgow Rose 6, St Andrews United 0
LINLITHGOW Rose slammed six without reply past St Andrews this week to reach the quarter-finals of the Fife and Lothians Cup.
It was a welcome relief for Rose from their recent league woes and they were in top form against the Premier League leaders.
Roddy MacLennan, Tommy Coyne (2), Stuart McArthur, Colin Strickland (2) were all on target in a dominant win for the West Lothian club
Newtongrange Star 0, Bathgate Thistle 2
THE Jags followed their county rivals in the last-eight with goals from Marco Andreoni and Chris Jeffrey enough to down Newtongrange Star.
East of Scotland Cup Third Round:
Arbroath SC 0, Armadale Thistle 1
GREGOR Buchanan’s seventh minute strike proved the difference for the Dale who eased into the fourth round of the East of Scotland Cup.
It should have been a more comfortable win for the visitors who went very close with a series of chances while Jamie Valentine crashed a penalty kick off the face of the crossbar.
Fife and Lothians Cup Second Round:
Hill of Beath 5, Livingston United 2
SOUTH DIVISION leaders Livingston United put up a plucky fight against their Superleague hosts but found the going just too tough as they crashed out of the Fife and Lothians Cup.
Premier League:
Ballingry Rovers 3, Broxburn Athletic 1
BROXBURN’s title hopes suffered a set-back as they were turned over 3-1 by a side they have trounced 8-0 earlier in the season.
The county club’ defeat at Ore Park means they now trail leaders St Andrews by a point and they have played two matches more.
Shaun Graham fired home the opener after only two minutes before they doubled their lead just five minutes on when Jay Stein bent home a smashing free kick.
Ballingry even had the luxury of missing a penalty kick but Broxburn halved the deficit on the stroke of half-time.
But Alan McDonough netted again for Ballingry after the break to clinch the points.
Whitburn 0, Kinnoull 1
WHITBURN’S Premier League future is hanging on a shaky nail after another defeat left them deep in the relegation quagmire.
It was a must-win match for the Burnie who had home advantage over one of their rivals for the drop.
They were not without opportunities to take something from the game but they missed a series of chances.
And they were left to rue their missed opportunities when Chris Webster prodded home at the back post to edge the Perth side in front and pile the pressure on the county side to stay in the division.
South League:
Stoneyburn 1, Blackburn United 0
CRAIG EASTON climbed off the bench and slammed home a stunning winner with his very first touch to help his side beat Blackburn and leapfrog them in the league table.
The Stoneyburn star entered the fray just after the hour mark and made an instant impression by volleying home a Steven Mulligan cross to take the points.
West Calder United 3, Edinburgh United 1
WEST Calder narrowed the gap on Edinburgh United, who sit one place above them in the table, to three points after a comfortable home winy.
Steven Johnstone’s first-half goal was the difference at the interval and when Brett Agnew and Stewart McLeod found the net after the break it was over.
Edinburgh did pull a goal back before the end but West Calder were well worth the three points.
Dunbar United 1, Pumpherston 1
STEWART Morrice’s opener wasn’t enough to earn all three points for Pumphy who were pegged back by Dunbar.
