DAVIE COWAN admits it will take a miracle for his side to now win the South Division title after his first game in charge ended with a home defeat against Tranent.
The new Fauldhouse manager was in the Parkview dug-out for the first-time on Saturday.
And he confessed he felt this was a match his side HAD to win to remain in the hunt for the championship and with it promotion to the Premier League.
He groaned: “I was gutted to lose. Don’t get me wrong as I didn’t feel we played that well but I felt we could have hung on for the win after leading until so late in the game.
“We lost two late goals and two bad goals from mistakes which seemingly has been the story of our season.
“If I’m honest I think that’s it gone now. We have nine games left and we will try and win them all but I’m not sure if even that would be enough.
“There are two or three teams in better positions than us and they are in the driving seat now.”
Fauldhouse were in charge until the final five minutes where a late collapse saw them ship two-goals and with it the points and perhaps even their promotion hopes.
Graham Baird’s second-half opener had edged the Hoose infront and they looked certain winners.
But with five minutes to play a defensive mix-up saw Jamie Gall leave the ball for his keeper which gave sub Steven Tait the chance to nip in and score an equaliser.
Then two-minutes later keeper Ian Stewart made a mess of a punch in his box and another visiting sub, Keith Salton, nodded the ball into the net for the winner.
