Linlithgow hearts are broken at Tynecastle

Scottish Shield Under 15

LINLITHGOW ACADEMY had their hearts broken at Tynecastle this week as their Scottish Shield dream ended in a final defeat against Musselburgh Grammar School.

At the home of Hearts FC the West Lothian schoolboys were second best but they should be proud of their magnificent march to the showpiece final.

Steven Brant had the first shot of the match on target as ‘Gow started well, but then their East Lothian opponents started to take control of proceedings.

It came as no surprise when they took the lead after a long throw-in from Daniel Taylor was bundled home at the back post by Darren McGrath.

The goal gave Musselburgh a massive shot of confidence and they went for the jugular and got it when they quickly doubled their lead when Sam Rintoul raced away from his marker and skipped round Linlithgow keeper Jack Morris with east.

After the break Linlithgow dug deep and tried to take the game to their rivals but they couldn’t stem the flow of raids on their net and Musselburgh slapped the handcuffs on the trophy when they added number three from the penalty spot through Martyniuk.
