Armadale drop to second bottom
ARMADALE Thistle dropped to second bottom with Arniston taking advantage of their poor form as the Jags’ winless run continues.
A mix-up at the back handed Rangers the lead with barely 30 second on the clock.
A long ball through the middle wasn’t dealt with by Thistle’s backline, and Arniston took full advantage of the dithering defence as Scott Garden fired home the opener.
Armadale rallied after the early shock and grabbed an equaliser close to half time.
Craig Chilton got onto the end of a Gary Brown cross to header the ball over Arniston’s keeper’s head and into the net minutes before half time.
Feeney got a bad hand injury and Scott Brown substituted.
But the day belonged to the visitors who hit the woodwork before grabbing a late winner from a poorly cleared corner.
The ball was sent back into the box before Moriarty fired home handing Arniston the win.
The defeat dumps Thistle to second bottom, four points ahead of Downfield and level with Broxburn.
Thistle gaffer Jim Henderson rued his side’s poor defending and finishing.
He said: “It’s really disappointing not to come away with something because I didn’t feel we played badly.
“We gave away a bad goal at the start.
“Everyone just left the ball for everyone else and their striker nipped in to score.
“We really switched off there and it cost us.
“I don’t think we are playing badly overall, but we need to start scoring goals if we are going to lift ourselves up the table.”
Armadale are without a league win so far this season and only scored their first goal of the Premierleague campaign last weekend in a 2-2 draw away to Oakley.
Armadale are away to Downfield this weekend.
