Armadale lose to bottom side Downfield

DOWNFIELD notched up their first league win of the season on Saturday to leave visitors Armadale a point off bottom spot.

A Murray Symon double and Kit Bremner did the damage to Armadale, who couldn’t cope with the blustery conditions.

Downfield took the lead after 20 minutes when Bremner pounced during a goalmouth scramble.

Armadale’s chances of an equaliser were dented when Callum Rarity was sent off on the half-hour mark but a red card for Downfield’s Callum Cox made it 10 v 10.

However, Armadale continued to struggle against the relegation favourites and it was no surprise when they went 2-0 down after 65 minutes when Symon found space inside the box to sidefoot the ball into the net.

Armadale didn’t learn from that strike and Symon fired in an almost identical goal with seven minutes remaining to kill the game off.

This disjointed performance sees Armadale fall into the relegation zone, with those teams around them having games in hand.
