Fauldhouse lose to West Calder

DAVIE COWAN wants his Fauldhouse players to get “back to basics” after two first-half goals from Kallum MacAuley handed West Calder United their first win of the season.

To compound the misery for the Fauldhouse boss, Jason Deans was shown a red card and Andy Cooper was stretchered off on a dismal day for his side.

Cowan believes his side’s attempts at playing pretty football cost them dearly.

He said: “The lads need to get back to basics. I have always been told that you can’t win this league by playing football. The truth is that we need to be playing the football in their half, rather than passing it across our own box.”

West Calder boss Richard Hastings said: “I was pleased for the lads because they have been working very hard and not really getting the results we deserved.

“I thought we were the better team on the day.”
