LIVINGSTON United gaffer Andy Johnstone reckons his side are on the way up the table after their comprehensive weekend win over Edinburgh United.
A brace from David Murphy and goals from Brian Halliday and Andy Roberts sealed Livi’s second league win of the season.
And Johnstone hopes this win will be the start of a good run.
He told the Courier: “I was really pleased with the performance and the result.
“We held strong and kept it tight at the back, which was really good.
“I feel we’ve been playing well without getting the results we maybe deserved, so it was really important to get the win this weekend.”
Johnstone’s men battled against the wind first half and stayed solid at the back, with the match reaching half-time goalless.
But then Livi used the elements to their advantage as Murphy opened the scoring by finishing from a great passing move before Halliday headed them 2-0 up.
Murphy doubled his tally for the day after being set up by Graeme Crawford, then sub Roberts put the game beyond any doubt with a fine solo run and strike
Johnstone added: “It’s our first home game in six and hopefully now we can push on and get ourselves further up the table.
“There were a lot of shock results this weekend and we’ll have benefited from other teams dropping points they’d have expected to pick up.”
The win lifts Livi United to ninth in the South Division and sends Edinburgh United to bottom spot.
