MARK COWAN hit a hat-trick as blistering Broxburn Athletic blasted six goals past a dire Dalry Thistle on Saturday.
The West Lothian side opened the scoring on 12 minutes after a break down the right led to John Jeffrey lashing the ball home.
On the half-hour mark, it was 2-0 when a Broxburn corner was cleared only to Cowan, whose volleyed into the net.
Cowan made it 3-0 early in the second half when Broxburn hit Dalry on the break before going on to complete his hat-trick when a mistake by the Dalry goalkeeper allowed him the easiest of tap-ins to put the hosts four goals to the good.
Broxburn substitute Gary Millar made an instant impact from the bench with a late brace to make it 6-0, much to the delight of boss Stevie Pitman.
He told the Courier: “I felt we fully deserved the win and the lads played really well.
“They worked hard and their finishing was superb.
“Now we just need to hope we get another home draw in the next round.”
