Fauldhouse hit Port Glasgow for six

FAULDHOUSE blasted their way past Port Glasgow with a stunning 6-1 thrashing.

A Gary Shanks double and strikes from Lee Fairley, Jamie Gallagher, John Paul Greig and Grant Easton fired the Hoose into the third round of the Junior Cup.

The Port looked dangerous and could have scored on 10 minutes when Ryan McDonald outstripped Jamie Gall who fired wide of the post.

After that early scare, The Hoose took control and opened the scoring on 38 minutes when Kenny Martin crossed the ball to Shanks who slotted home the opener.

Fauldhouse nearly doubled their lead a minute into the second half but Port goalie Bryan Tucker tipped over Kenny Martin’s 20 yard drive.

The Hoose had the Glasgow outfit under the cosh, but it was not until the 65th minute that the pressure paid off when Shanks fired home his second from 20yards.

Then the floodgates opened.

Four minute later, Jason Deans crossed to Fairley to head home the third from close range.

Next on the scoresheet was Grieg who broke down the right and fired a shot past Tucker for the fourth.

Mark Wilkins could have made things worse for The Port when he fired a shot from outside the box, but his effort crashed against the crossbar and went over.

But things did get worse for them as Jamie Gall headed home the fifth with two minutes left on the clock.

Easton rounded off the Hoose scoring after a great through ball from Graham Baird to make it 6-0.

Port’s John Paterson snatched a late consolation when he fired past Dawid Paterek.

But that single breach of Fauldhouse’s defence didn’t stop them celebrating as they make their way into the hat for the third-round draw which will be made later this month.
