JOHN JEFFREY missed the chance to send Broxburn shooting up the table when he blasted over late on.
The Broxburn hitman looked set to send Athletic up to fourth in the tight Premier League when he was sent clear with minutes remaining.
But his effort sailed over the bar as Tayport held out for a 0-0 draw.
Despite Broxburn nearly snatching the win at the death, it was Tayport who could have taken an early lead.
In a rip-roaring start, their skipper Roberto Morris sent his bending shot from distance crash off the crossbar before Jamie Mackie fired the rebound goalward before Broxburn shot-stopper Lee Holliday tipped the ball onto the woodwork, as the danger was eventually cleared.
Thereafter both sides were restricted to long range efforts as defences were dominant for the remainder of the first half.
The second period was more of the same although Stuart Cairns came close with a header via a corner kick.
And with five minutes left a long ball from defence found John Jeffrey unmarked, but any chance Broxburn had of going home with all three points was gone when the usually reliable Jeffrey blasted over the bar.
The draw leaves Broxburn 9th with only a single point separating 5th and 10th.
