LINLITHGOW suffered in the war of the Roses at the weekend as they fell to their second straight defeat, ultimately costing boss David Baikie his job.
The visitors started brightly and looked the better side in the first half – and they deservedly went into the break a goal to the good thanks to Stuart McArthur’s fine strike.
However, league leaders Bonnyrigg came back fighting in the second half.
They grabbed an equaliser midway through the second half in what was turning into a close clash.
But with seven minutes to go, Linlithgow went down to 10 men with defender Alan Brown being forced to come off injured.
Baikie had already used all of his subs and were now forced to battle on with a numerical disadvantage.
And it was to be a costly piece of misfortune with Bonnyrigg taking full advantage and scoring two late goals to send Lithgae home with nothing and earning their manager the boot.
Baikie said: “I felt we were playing well in the first half and a draw would have been the fairest result.”
