ANDY McQUILLAN’S hit a hat-trick to give Blackburn United a comfortable afternoon in Haddington.
United won possession straight from kick-off and Nicky Miller was set free down the right before crossing for McQuillan to convert from close range in the opening seconds.
Jordan Rintoul then went close to doubling United’s lead before McQuillan crossed for Miller, who headed home from six yards.
The visitors ended the half with a healthy lead when McQuillan stepped up to score from the spot.
Haddington pulled a goal back when Martin stabbed home a cross from close range but any hopes of an Athletic comeback were extinguished seven minutes from time when Miller sprung the offside trap, flicked the ball past the advancing Ross Combe and was pulled to the ground by the flailing keeper as he tried to go round him.
The ref issued a red card and McQuillan duly converted from the resultant penalty to seal his hat-trick and a convincing win.
