The Hoose see off Edinburgh United

DAVIE COWAN sees the South Division title as up for grabs after moving to within two points of the top.

The Hoose boss watched his side cruise past potential banana skin Edinburgh United to move into third place in the table.

And Cowan reckons up to eight sides are in the title race.

He said: “I was very pleased with the win and I felt confident that we would come away with the three points.

“The top of the table is wide open now and there’s up to eight teams who can stake a claim for the title.

“We’re putting in some good performances and we’ve a lot of players who have come back from injury.

“But this league can hit you in the face, so it’s important we stay focused.”

Kenny Martin dispossessed Edinburgh’s Anderson and fired past David Sorley to give Fauldhouse the lead. One minute later, Mark Wilkins rounded the keeper for the second.

On the half-hour mark Edinburgh’s Sean Black had a great chance but he shot straight at Iain Stewart.

Mark Wilkins then beat the offside trap, took the ball to the byline and cut back to Shanks who rifled the ball past Sorley to give The Hoose a commanding 3-0 lead.

Edinburgh grabbed a consolation goal when Black’s spot-kick was saved by Stewart before the penalty taker blasted home the rebound.
