Burnie boss eyes cup run

ROBERT LEE hopes Whitburn’s Scottish Junior Cup history can inspire his player to go on a glory run – starting with their re-scheduled game against Glentanar.

Last weekend’s downpour made Central Park unplayable and Lee is desperate to put his side’s name in the hat at the expense of the Aberdonian visitors this Saturday.

Lee, whose South Division side won the coveted trophy in 2000, said: “They’re a team playing at a similar level to us, so it’s a game we are certainly capable of winning.

“They’ve a long journey to make as well, which could work to our advantage.

“We’ll need to be at our best if we want to make it to the next round.

“It’s all about getting Whitburn back to where we should be.

“In the past, we’ve won the trophy and it’s about getting ourselves back up to that level.”

Also in the Scottish Junior Cup this weekend is Broxburn v Girvan and Armadale take on Kilsyth in a replay.
