Burnie boss is so glad to be home for Christmas

ROBERT LEE believes Whitburn will hold the advantage when Aberdeenshire side Glentanar make the long journey to West Lothian on Christmas Eve to play their Scottish Junior Cup clash.

The third round tie has been cancelled four times since the draw was made a month ago.

And with Junior bosses opting to schedule the clash for the day before Christmas, Lee reckons the decision is unlikely to suit his opponents.

He said: “The Christmas Eve fixture really isn’t ideal for a team having to travel such a long distance.

“We’ve both been trying to fulfil this fixture for weeks and it will be good when it finally goes ahead.

“The truth is that we’ve got a young squad, so I think they’ll all be pretty happy to play the game, whereas the other team might have more players with family commitments.

“And because we’re the home side, that obviously really works to our advantage in these circumstances.”

While Whitburn battle to get their match against Glentanar played, the fourth round draw of the competition has been made.

Kelty Hearts await the winners of the tie while the only other West Lothian side remaining, Armadale, will take on Arthurlie if they can see their way past Kilsyth in their replay this weekend.

The full draw is as follows: Armadale Thistle or Kilsyth Rangers v Arthurlie, Bonnyrigg v Maybole, Cambuslang Rangers or Dundee East, Craigie v Shotts or Annbank United, Carluke Rovers v Dunipace or Irvine Meadow, Dundee Violet v Whitletts Victoria or Ashfield, Girvan v St Rochs, Kelty Hearts v Whitburn or Glentanar, Kilbirnie v Troon, Kilwinning or Blantyre v Glenafton Athletic, Lanark United v Kinnoull, Largs Thistle v Arniston, Larkhall Thistle v Bellshill Athletic or Greenock, Musselburgh v Auchinleck Talbot, Neilston or Sauchie v Bo’ness United, Pollok v Lochee United, St Andrews United v Cumnock.

Ties will be played on Saturday, January 21.
