ARMADALE narrowly missed out on a crucial point before losing late on to Penicuik.
The Dale added Hamilton Accies-loaned players Lewis Milton and Kieran Johnston to their squad for the game.
And with minutes remaining, Armadale looked to have gained precious league points only to be denied by two late strikes by the odds-on favourites.
The home side had their fair share of the opening play but failed to convert into chances.
Armadale gradually came into the game with new-start Milton creating problems for the home defence.
On the half hour mark a fierce 25-yard drive from Martin Jack was deflected away from Penicuik keeper Bauld to give the visitors the lead at half time.
The Dale continued to defy the odds in the second half and should have gone 2-0 in front when Scott Brown went clear with options to left and right.
He chose to go it alone and was dispossessed.
Penicuik's Chris Roxburgh scored in 82 minutes following a scramble in the box.
Armadale's misery was completed in injury time when they gave away possession in midfield and Craig O'Reilly ran through and fired low to give keeper Walker no chance.
The defeat keeps Dale third bottom.
